Creationists Lie To Kids

Take a look at this science poster hanging in a school classroom, claiming to provide evidence that the earth is young.

It lies and lies and lies and lies:

- the eruption of Mt. St. Helens made canyons like the Grand Canyon: debunked here

- a "plesiosaur" that washed up on a beach shows dinosaurs are still alive: almost certainly a basking shark carcass, like the one discussed here

- "polystrate" fossils: explained here

And that's just from the first two photos.

Fundamentalist "education" rots your mind.

  1. Two things... one, I certainly hope that's not in a PUBLIC school classroom. Two, I'm appalled that it's in ANY classroom. That poster caused Creation Museum flashbacks. *shudder*

  2. Uh, let me get this straight...

Kent Hovind is in jail for tax fraud. Lying on the stand, which he did repeatedly. To the government.

PZ Myers is not in jail.

Ken Ham, who says Hovind is in jail for "tax issues" and cannot say "fraud", is mad about Myers' dishonesty, not tax cheat Hovind's.

Ah, indoctrination! If it wasn't for it, religions would perish. At least, their fundamentalist forms would.

  4. @Eamon Knight:
David Irving would be a hypocrite for calling Herman Rosenblatt a liar, but he'd still be right.

  5. No contradiction:
I'm afraid your point escapes me. Rather than me guessing wrong, perhaps you'd like to explicate?
(Like: who corresponds here to Irving and Rosenblat, respectively?)

  6. We can say that Irving corresponds to these creationists, and Rosenblatt corresponds to atheists.

  7. I see once again, in true troll-fashion, you avoid making your point clear. I think I see where you're going with this (and if I don't, it's your own damn fault), and I've wasted enough time on you.

  8. "Creationists Lie To Kids "

If they think they're telling the truth, are they still lies? I mean, you could've written "Creationists Teach False Information To Kids"

  9. Miranda:

Did you take an extra dose of Obvious Pills this morning, or are you just naturally boring?

  10. Everything you ever taught your kids that later turned out to be mistaken -- they were all lies.

    Of course, this is "obvious."

You continue to be the most boring commenter on this site.

  12. If your definition of "boring" is as misguided as your definition of "lie," then I guess I can take that as a compliment!
