Just as nobody should excuse such conduct committed by the US. However the demonization of Castro is beyond mistaken, you remove everything "to quoque", and the above poster stands correct. Batista was an Authoritarian monster, abolished his own constitution, sent home the elected congress and yadda yadda yadda..... In other words never fail to remind people as wrong as Castro may sometimes appear, his strongest opponents are far worse.TechZillahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04660359120204171146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20067416.post-69839898871312274432008-02-22T02:32:00.000-05:002008-02-22T02:32:00.000-05:00Castro's "sins" including murdering and imprisonin...Castro's "sins" including murdering and imprisoning thousands of his political opponents. I don't agree with the religious language of "corsica", but these facts are well-established. The fact that the US currently engages in torture is a "tu quoque" form of argument. The US's current bad conduct does not excuse Castro's.Jeffrey Shallithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12763971505497961430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20067416.post-50274643782464557682008-02-22T00:34:00.000-05:002008-02-22T00:34:00.000-05:00Forever damned? Overthrowing the US compliant Batista regime and replacing it with something that was supported by Cubans and would declare independance from its neighbouring empire? Was that his sin?
Look I don't pretend that Castro was perfect. But at least he's a representation of whats Cuban and not whats American like the prior Batista dictator was.
And as far as political prisoners, executions and even one step further TORTURE are concerned...all we have to do is look at how the US laws and gov't opperate if we want to see how those things are well executed.
So who's the sinner? Who's being damned by whom? And who needs to ask for forgiveness from who?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20067416.post-1156484150265747252006-08-25T01:35:00.000-04:002006-08-25T01:35:00.000-04:00Is Trudeau on Castro's payroll? He's near death and should be asking for forgiveness for his sins or he'll forever be damned.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
