This looks like a typo. I bet the original article read "52x30" and it got automagically spell checked into 5230.
I don't think it's a pure typo. Throughout the article he refers to "more than 5000 columns". I think probably what happened is that he wrote down 52.30 and forgot later to multiply it out.
Well, how about this for inchemistracy: last night (20 Nov 2006)on Market place, Miranda Kennedy said, “India exports iron ore to China — lots and lots of it — to feed China's massive energy needs.”
