Paul Nelson made the same point to me in e-mail.
However, I think both of you are missing one point. Agnostics (as opposed to atheists) don't have the same motivation to slaughter based on their world view because they hold a belief in uncertainty: that it is, in principle, not possible to decide either way on the existence of gods.
It's those who are absolutely certain -- whether theist or atheist -- that we have the most to fear from.
