Well, no surprise to anyone who's followed the story, but the ID documentary Expelled is essentially dead in theatres.
According to Box Office Mojo, not even creationists are dumb enough to pay good money to watch this turkey. After its opening weekend, Expelled attendance fell off exponentially in weekend gross, with each weekend earning less than 1/2 the previous. Theatre count also decreased each week; only 83 theatres nationwide are showing this loser now. Similarly, the amount taken in per theatre decreased each week, down to this week's $423/theatre. You could probably get more by showing Battlefield Earth.

A fitting end, if you ask me!
I agree the numbers that the link reports look lousy. But is exponential fall-off atypical for a movie?
I think it's pretty typical. The point is, Expelled definitely didn't get the groundswell of support the producers expected.
rottentomatoes.com was showing it as the lowest gross and lowest per theater over the first several weeks. There will be a brief second life as it transitions to DVD. I think Ben Stein is appearing on Glenn Beck (CNN right-wing nutjob--and I say that endearingly) this evening to continue to try to squeeze dollars out of the rock that is Expelled.
Compare, for example, how the numbers for Juno swelled as people got word about it.
Wait till it goes to video (if ever), then you'll see what people think of it.
