Authoritarian High School Superintendent of the Month

Our nominee for Authoritarian High School Superintendent of the Month is

Rick Martin, superintendent of Prague High School, who in a Kafkaesque move (Prague - get it?), wants to deny a high school valedictorian her diploma because -- gasp! -- she used the word "hell" in her valedictory address.

The people who run high schools in North America behave more like tinpot dictators than educators.

In the King James Bible, the term "hell" is used 54 times; 31 times in the Old Testament, and 23 times in the New Testament. What is the meaning of the word "hell" in the bible? In the Old Testament, it is translated from one word, Sheol. In the New Testament, "hell" is translated from three words, tartaroo, Hades, and Gehenna. Let us look at their meanings.

Hell, who gives a shit what's in the Bible or not. It is a public school. We live in a country where church and state are separate, not like Saudi Arabia. This guy is an ass and needs to get his head out of it!

I wonder what the results would be if you surveyed the sermons on any Sunday in Oklahoma churches for mentions of "hell." I'd guess 85%-90%. Maybe they should all be made to appologize.

What's horrible is that the principal said he'd give her her diploma if she apologized. Power trip.

Jeff can I curse on your blog?

This is the same superintendent who said "boys will be boys" and refused admittance of police officers on campus upon reports of violent sexual abuse of one boy by his peers.

The school board allowed him to stay after that...I'd say he was given PERMISSION to commit subsequent crimes.
