People like Swanson offer nothing but lies, because their whole world view is based on lies.

From the linked story:
“Mark Twain was probably the strongest apologist against the Christian faith that America’s ever seen,” said Swanson...".
Three words: Robert Green Ingersoll. :)
The bit about Darwin being a sadist comes from the execrable Jerry Bergman, based on Darwin's love, as a young man, of hunting:
http://www.icr.org/article/1511/
What Bergman hides/doesn't know is that the kind of hunting, where large numbers of birds are shot in a day was the standard of the time and even into the 20th century. Anyone who has watched Masterpiece Theatre knows about "shooting parties." Darwin may have been particularly avid but hardly out of the norm of his day.
Another thing Bergman focuses on is Darwin's account of how he beat a puppy when he was young, something he regretted. Bergman's take:
He even admitted that he later felt much guilt over his behavior, indicating that he knew his actions were wrong (p. 27). At this time, he still had a strong faith in God, and this fact may partly explain his guilt (p. 25).
Except at the time he recounted the event and his regret, in his Autobiography, he was, as he said himself, probably an agnostic.
Yes, we know for sure that no Christian would ever mistreat an animal. Or a slave. Or something.
It's nice to know that the watchdog group, People for American Way, has inspired a watchdog group to watch them:

I find Jerry Bergman's hypocrisy insufferable. Bergman blames Darwin for the very racism that Bergman himself promoted in the 1980's. In the 80's he wrote a letter to David Duke of the KKK to claim he was denied tenure because he was white, asking for the Klansman's assistance in promoting his racial paranoia. Now he blames Darwin for inventing the racism he promoted.
More dishonesty: at Amazon, Jerry Bergman uses sock puppet identities "Darwin Researcher" and "The Professor" to tout his own books and give himself 5-star reviews while pretending not to be the author. He's mentally unbalanced.
As for cruelty to animals, the Bible Belt is full of gratuitous animal killers. If hunting, Darwin's hobby, were so offensive to Christians, as Swanson pretends, the Bible Belt should be the first place to ban hunting and meat eating.
I know that Bergman uses Darwin Researcher and The Professor, and I suspect that he also uses two other accounts, The Scientist and Doctor.
