How Atheists Find Meaning

Read this excellent Buzzfeed article about how various atheists find meaning in their lives without a god.

Then read this this comment by Barry Arrington on the article. Arrington does nothing but sneer, saying the atheists in the article exhibit "gobsmacking stupidity", have a "lack of intellectual honesty" and "[spout] self-contradicting pseudo-profundities".

But he doesn't give a single example of what he thinks is wrong!

On a more personal note, who would you rather have lunch with? Arrington, or the genuine humans depicted in Buzzfeed, full of modesty, joy, sorrow, intellectual curiosity, and love?

I have to ask: What made Arrington so stupid? ("Religion" is too obvious an answer -- lots of religious people never become that kind of small-minded nasty).

Does he imagine he would go to heaven if God really existed? What kind of God would want to suffer his company for ever?

Here is an example of how Barry debates people who disagree with him on this thread.

Barry: " He really is a disgusting little maggot. "

Oh, Arrington has said much, much worse than that. He seems to despise everyone who disagrees with him, no matter how inconsistent and incoherent his own views are. A great example of that "Christian love" we hear so much about.

"...pathelic snivelling little coward." is my personal favourite. Mostly because it was directed towards me for refusing to answer one of his obviously loaded questions.

Or, maybe the shoe fit.

"Or, maybe the shoe fit."

Which is quite possible. But his loaded question was of the same form: Have you stopped beating your wife?, and only accepting a yes or no answer. Just look at the way that Barry responds to people who disagree with him. Here are a few examples from recent posts:

"mahuna wants to objectify women and pursue them for sex with all of the moral discretion of a dog chasing a bitch in heat..."

"You remind me of my four year-old grandson."

"Conversation over. Eigenstate, you lie and dissemble."

"He really is a disgusting little maggot."

"You are an evil little fascist turd eigenstate."

Mature adults do not behave in this fashion. But Barry does.

Arlington is right.

Who the heck is Arlington?

I see you have applied both logic and spelling in equal measures. Typical Egnor.

In "God's own country" atheists seem to be the new communists, at least in those cases where they are treated with the same kind of hostility and paranoia.
